Saw Operator – 1st & 2nd Shifts Available

Key Responsibilities:

Sets up and operates metal-sawing machines, to cut metal stock to dimensions. This position is responsible for operating equipment used in the cutting, fabricating, and manufacturing of metal parts and subassemblies. Machine operators also perform tasks to complete the machine operating process including but not limited to material handling, loading and unloading machines, and entering data into computer programs.

Job Requirements/Skills:

• Reads job order for specifications for material type, size and dimensions to be cut
• Move and position material so machine can properly perform operation required
• Obtains and transfers stock to machine, manually or with hoist
• Installs saw blade and sets blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation
• Set stops and guides to control dimension of cut, using steel rule and wrenches
• Positions and secures stock against stops or in feeding device
• Starts machine and observes operation
• Measures work for conformance to specifications, using rule and gauges
• Marks identifying data on work piece
• Replaces defective cutting blade or wheel, using hand tools
• Adheres to company safety and quality policies
• Stays organized and has good housekeeping
• Ability to use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
• Operate all company saws and shears

Physical requirements:

• Stand for entire working shift
• Ability to lift 30 lbs.
• Pass a shop math proficiency test
• Read measuring equipment necessary to produce quality components
• Can speak, read and write the English language

Education/Experience:

• High School diploma or state/military approved high school equivalency diploma
• 1-3 Years work experience preferred
